I actually know Kurt from my days working for Best Buy. He was the guy that I swear never wore the same sneakers twice. If he did I never knew it. Well, he fell in love with a girl named Nicole (Nikki) told her about me and my photography and the rest is history!! They are getting married next May but we took a small adventure in and around Chicago earlier this month for their Engagement Session. I always encourage a session that reflects the personalities of both the Bride a
Every Baby has a birth story, some are filled with Drama and others are quick and swift. This one was a journey filled with loss, love and waiting almost 6 years. (well the Aunties and Uncles were waiting for 6 years) And the wait was worth it. Welcome Preston! We love you so very much. Mike & Caroline are some of my Husband & I's dearest friends. Mike & Chad grew up together in Chittenango, NY. So, from the moment that they confirmed that lil' man was on the way... I had pl
One of the most obsessed topic around scheduling a photoshoot is the location. Each person has something that they are looking for in the perfect spot. Pretty backdrop, greenery, flowers, texture or a connection to the place. Well, a week or so ago, a small photography group I am apart of suggested a challenge - Make pretty photos in an ugly spot. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!! I borrowed my neighbors girls and went to some ugly spots around the Historic Woodstock Square. Let me tell
It's Here!! It's finally here! Spring showed up after Winter just wouldn't leave. The trees are finally waking up and flowers are blooming and ....aaaaahhhhhh-choooo.... my allergies came back too. So, I know there are a lot of you that are planning on Spring Photos. Here are a few good things to keep in mind while planning for them.... and even your summer ones. 1) WEATHER | Watch closely and Plan carefully. Photographers usually take on the role of Weatherman/woman so they
A benefit of living in McHenry County is that at every turn you feel like your somewhere else. The natural landscape is a gift, just add mountains and a beach for the perfect place to live. I also come across clients like Jenna and Eric who have land in their family that is dreamy. Eric’s family has a farm in Union, Il where the couple plans on marrying in October of 2018. This is where I met them for their engagement shoot. October of 2017 was kind of mean to us, we had rain
It’s the hottest day of the summer in late September, the Bears just won their game, and I got to meet up with Brian, Diana, and their super sweet pup, Rica for a sunset walk through Milton Lee Olive Park. Olive Park is a favorite spot for views of the city that is tucked quietly between Navy Pier and Lakeshore Drive. They started with letter that I had them write to each other, Brian was a little too excited and read his before Diana had hers unfolded. They were short, sweet
Phew, what. A. Year.
September to Christmas was a whirlwind for me. I barely slept between weddings, editing, family shoots, babies, and mini sessions. My birthday flew by, my License expired and I didn’t notice til TSA told me this month, I celebrated holidays with friends and family, wrapped presents, and ate a lot. Like I said, I had so much fun doing it all and wouldn’t trade it. Here is a peek of what those 4 months looked like for me.
THE FAMILIES AND KIDDOS:
I am really loving these newborn sessions, I hope to see many, many more! This is the Brosk family. I visited them at their home in Inverness to Welcome Everly. She joined her mom, dad and big brother this past June. Big brother wasn't sure about her but still have us a few smiles. Everly has a beautiful room all to herself. With moons and clouds that will help her with sweet dreams. Check out all the cute moments I had with Everly and her family. #illinoisphotographer #Famil
I was born into a Catholic family. I went to church weekly, I was sent to Sunday school, baptised, confirmed, and all that good stuff but I never felt connected to the catholic faith. I do have faith, I found it in college. It is a faith that spans over all religions and beliefs. I enjoy seeing the traditions and customs that each one has and appreciate many things from each. So when I was asked to document the Baptism of Zoey for her Family, I of course said yes. These are m
Back around Mother's Day you met Hannah and her mom as they made cookies together. A special time together before baby brother arrived. Shortly after baby brother, Michael, joined them! Born May 20th weighing in at 8 lbs and 8 ozs, he as welcomed into the world with Mom, Dad and big sister anxiously waiting for snuggles. I was there to capture some of his Welcome Home moments. He did not have a room of his own quite yet, that was waiting for him at his new home, so we took ad
I mentioned in my last post that I was venturing into Wedding photography. This is a BIG step for me and one that I am not taking on lightly. I have been Assisting & Second Shooting with a Wedding Photographer out of the City. He has taught me a great many things about how to successfully work through a wedding and keep everyone in check, the biggest lesson I have gotten from him was my confidence. I am grateful for the time I get to work with him and looking forward to many
