I actually know Kurt from my days working for Best Buy. He was the guy that I swear never wore the same sneakers twice. If he did I never knew it. Well, he fell in love with a girl named Nicole (Nikki) told her about me and my photography and the rest is history!! They are getting married next May but we took a small adventure in and around Chicago earlier this month for their Engagement Session. I always encourage a session that reflects the personalities of both the Bride a
Every Baby has a birth story, some are filled with Drama and others are quick and swift. This one was a journey filled with loss, love and waiting almost 6 years. (well the Aunties and Uncles were waiting for 6 years) And the wait was worth it. Welcome Preston! We love you so very much. Mike & Caroline are some of my Husband & I's dearest friends. Mike & Chad grew up together in Chittenango, NY. So, from the moment that they confirmed that lil' man was on the way... I had pl
One of the most obsessed topic around scheduling a photoshoot is the location. Each person has something that they are looking for in the perfect spot. Pretty backdrop, greenery, flowers, texture or a connection to the place. Well, a week or so ago, a small photography group I am apart of suggested a challenge - Make pretty photos in an ugly spot. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!! I borrowed my neighbors girls and went to some ugly spots around the Historic Woodstock Square. Let me tell
Kristen and Travis are so cool. Really, they are. I met with Kristen back in January, we talked about the two of them and their wedding and she talked about how they moved here from Virginia and bought a house that they were doing work on. It is an older home, common for Woodstock, IL so there is a lot of love that goes into upkeep alone. So, even though we were waiting for nicer weather to do their engagement session - I suggested a chill in-home session with coffee and snug
It's Here!! It's finally here! Spring showed up after Winter just wouldn't leave. The trees are finally waking up and flowers are blooming and ....aaaaahhhhhh-choooo.... my allergies came back too. So, I know there are a lot of you that are planning on Spring Photos. Here are a few good things to keep in mind while planning for them.... and even your summer ones. 1) WEATHER | Watch closely and Plan carefully. Photographers usually take on the role of Weatherman/woman so they
Phew, what. A. Year.
September to Christmas was a whirlwind for me. I barely slept between weddings, editing, family shoots, babies, and mini sessions. My birthday flew by, my License expired and I didn’t notice til TSA told me this month, I celebrated holidays with friends and family, wrapped presents, and ate a lot. Like I said, I had so much fun doing it all and wouldn’t trade it. Here is a peek of what those 4 months looked like for me.
THE FAMILIES AND KIDDOS:
Fall isn't over. That fall feel will start to fade away however. Here are a few fun ways to continue the celebration and capture those fun moments. Ones that you don't need a photographer for... that's right a DIY photo list just for you. Grab your phone and make sure you document those special moments before the holidays take over. LEAVES!!! Before that big machine comes to vacuum all your leaves up you might as well have some fun with them first. Throw them in the air, roll
Believe it or not, were in the middle of the most popular time of the year for Family Photos. The Sun has changes from the bright yellow glow of summer to the golden warm glow of fall, leaves are changing and pumpkins are EVERYWHERE! I have heard a lot of photographers are booked completely, others like me have some room left and want to take advantage of all that Fall offers. SO - undecided? Not sure where to go? what to do? Afraid your family can't handle getting a great ph
I am really loving these newborn sessions, I hope to see many, many more! This is the Brosk family. I visited them at their home in Inverness to Welcome Everly. She joined her mom, dad and big brother this past June. Big brother wasn't sure about her but still have us a few smiles. Everly has a beautiful room all to herself. With moons and clouds that will help her with sweet dreams. Check out all the cute moments I had with Everly and her family. #illinoisphotographer #Famil
I was born into a Catholic family. I went to church weekly, I was sent to Sunday school, baptised, confirmed, and all that good stuff but I never felt connected to the catholic faith. I do have faith, I found it in college. It is a faith that spans over all religions and beliefs. I enjoy seeing the traditions and customs that each one has and appreciate many things from each. So when I was asked to document the Baptism of Zoey for her Family, I of course said yes. These are m
Back around Mother's Day you met Hannah and her mom as they made cookies together. A special time together before baby brother arrived. Shortly after baby brother, Michael, joined them! Born May 20th weighing in at 8 lbs and 8 ozs, he as welcomed into the world with Mom, Dad and big sister anxiously waiting for snuggles. I was there to capture some of his Welcome Home moments. He did not have a room of his own quite yet, that was waiting for him at his new home, so we took ad
This past year I have slowly made my way into the world of Wedding Photography. I started in May with a Styled Shoot (which you will see next week) and this engagement shoot for Ashley & Rob, whose Wedding I will be photographing in December at the always fun Starline Factory. The wedding stuff has been fun and I am excited to share more of my journey as it unfolds. BUT FIRST: Ashley & Rob.... I have known Ashley for about 4 years. I have not known her without Rob. They met a
It's on all our minds leading up to a photoshoot - What if my kid doesn't cooperate? Let me tell you a little secret - they most likely won't. Not even my own child does. This is why photographers won't ever 'just snap one photo' or reply to the 'I only need a few photos' inquiries. Any photo session planned takes into account the kids that like to explore their environment before the pay attention, those that cry around new people, and those that need to warm up before they
This is Hannah and her mommy Jennifer, they are patiently waiting for any brother to join them this summer so their Mama & Me session is extra special. Today they decided to bake some chocolate chip cookies, a delicious rainy day activity!! It's also great practice for Hannah, cookie making is a great big sister talent. Hannah had fun in the sugar jar and enjoyed being apart of the process. Especially when she found out there was chocolate involved!! There was never a dull mo
